About
Dr. Nadine Naber is an award winning author, public speaker and activist on the topics of racial justice; gender justice; women of color feminisms; Arab and Muslim feminisms; Arab Americans; and Muslim Americans. She has authored/co-edited five books: Arab America: Gender, Cultural Politics, and Activism; Race and Arab Americans; Arab and Arab American Feminisms; The Color of Violence; and Towards the Sun. Dr. Naber is the founder/co-founder of many organizations and institutions, including the Arab Women’s Solidarity Association North America, Arab and Muslim American Studies at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor; the Arab American Cultural Center at UIC; Mamas Activating Movements for Abolition and Solidarity; and Liberate Your Research. Dr. Naber has served as an expert author for the United Nations and has served on the boards of organizations like the Women of Color Resource Center (WCRC); INCITE!; the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at UIC; the Social Justice Initiative at UIC; and the Arab American Action Network. and the Journal of Palestine Studies. She is currently a Professor in Gender and Women's Studies and Global Asian Studies and interim director of the Institute for Research on Race and Public Policy at UIC.
