Prevail Bonga

Pipeline to Justice Scholar

About

Prevail is a native of Lisle, Illinois, and is a rising activist and community organizer. She is currently a senior attending the University of Illinois at Chicago, majoring in Criminology, Law and Justice with a double minor in Political Science and African-American studies on the pre-law track. A first-generation college student and an aspiring lawyer, Prevail Bonga plans to use her studies to go into civil rights law or human international rights law. She aspires to use her law degree to further advocate for people who continue to be oppressed and subjugated by institutions, such as the carceral system.

Prevail recently organized a fundraiser for a Chicago, youth-led, grassroots organization called Good Kids Mad City, which brought in over $5,000 and was an organizer for the “Say Their Names” protest in Downers Grove, which brought out an estimated 4-5,000 people. With her passion and commitment to social justice, she hopes to impact her community and others in numerous ways.
