SUMMARY:Closing Schools is a Hate Crime pop-up exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Join Women and Mothers of Multiple Colors, Good Lookin Out, the Social Studies Network, and the Social Justice Initiative for the gallery exhibition Closing Schools is a Hate Crime.  Since 2001, Chicago Public Schools has closed, turned around, or consolidated, over 200 schools, despite community concerns that these school reforms would destabilize communities, increase violence, and gut public education for Black children. For four month over 20 Black students, parents, and educators gathered to create artifacts illuminating their experiences with, and fighting against, school closures in Chicago.
