DESCRIPTION:The Social Justice Initiative (SJI) at UIC invites you to attend our conference Through the Portal: Growing the World We Want, which will be held in Chicago from September 20 to 22, 2024.    Join a diverse assembly of over 80 scholars, activists, and artists to engage in critical dialogues on justice, power, and change. The conference features discussions on pressing global issues with notable speakers, including Angela Y. Davis, Mariame Kaba, Barbara Ransby, Hon. Cori Bush, Hon. Rashida Tlaib, Democracy Now! co-anchors Amy Goodman and Juan Gonzalez, and many more.    We are committed to accessibility, and are offering a sliding-scale, tiered registration fee which includes breakfast and lunch all during the conference, onsite childcare for ages 5-12 (limited space available for early registrants only), captioning, full Spanish translation of the panels, ADA compliant venues, and more.
