Join the UIC Institute for the Humanities, the Social Justice Initiative, the Arab American Cultural Center, and Global Middle East Studies for a special screening of The Encampments, a documentary film about the student movement to cut university ties to the war on Gaza. The film traces mobilizations that spread to hundreds of campuses across the U.S., where students organized encampments to make their voices heard.

After the film, there will be a discussion moderated by Dr. Zeina Zaatari, director of the UIC Arab American Cultural Center and queer feminist anthropologist from South Lebanon.

NOTE: The film is being screening in conjunction with the Justice Lens Film Series and is part of a symposium on Carceral Liberalism in an Age of Fascism. If you have already registered for the symposium, you do not need to register for the film.
